it’s art to me

and eat it too

So, sometimes life takes over, and we just have to make the most of it.

One of the things I like to do while I’m in “mom mode” is to have fun with the birthday cakes. Usually, I don’t have a lot of time to do this, so it has to be something that is quick, but, being me, I have to get a little “arty” with it.

Of course, the children have their say in what they want the cake to be. In this case, for Hana’s 12th birthday, she wanted “chocolate cake, with chocolate frosting, and chocolate chips”. It had to be “Kael Safe” (no milk or peanuts). Thanks to Namaste foods’ kickin’ gluten-free, dairy-free chocolate cake mix, it was sort of healthy, too. I always make the frosting, because of the milk issue. (The chocolate chips are dairy free.)

So, it’s not a masterpiece or anything really brilliant, but it was fun, and a way I can be creative when I don’t have creative time. :-)

Question of the week:
How do you infuse creativity into your daily life?

swanky shoes

I’ve never been much of a shopper of fashion. It usually takes way too long to find things that a) fit, b) I like, c) look good on me and d) are in my price range. Yep, I’m picky. What can I say? I’ve always been that way. You can even ask my mom.
But, hey, last April I was going to a wedding, and I felt like looking nice, so I went questing for shoes and finally found a suitable pair. Look, they actually have a heel! And, I love them… they remind me of the intricacies of spiderwebs.

If you’re wondering about the dress, I looked and finally just bought a few patterns and made an outfit myself.
