it’s art to me

and eat it too

So, sometimes life takes over, and we just have to make the most of it.

One of the things I like to do while I’m in “mom mode” is to have fun with the birthday cakes. Usually, I don’t have a lot of time to do this, so it has to be something that is quick, but, being me, I have to get a little “arty” with it.

Of course, the children have their say in what they want the cake to be. In this case, for Hana’s 12th birthday, she wanted “chocolate cake, with chocolate frosting, and chocolate chips”. It had to be “Kael Safe” (no milk or peanuts). Thanks to Namaste foods’ kickin’ gluten-free, dairy-free chocolate cake mix, it was sort of healthy, too. I always make the frosting, because of the milk issue. (The chocolate chips are dairy free.)

So, it’s not a masterpiece or anything really brilliant, but it was fun, and a way I can be creative when I don’t have creative time. :-)

Question of the week:
How do you infuse creativity into your daily life?

Hey Amy! Thanks for the link to the blog. Maybe we should get the whole family set up with blogs… That would actually be pretty cool :) Nice work on the cake.

I write. Wierd I know. But thats what I do. I am actually kind of good at it, so they tell me. Its just a few brief moments during the day when I can get completely obsorbed into another world. And who knows maybe one day I’ll get around to finishing it. LOL

    mmmm…Chocolate!

You know what’s funny? I didn’t even eat one piece of that cake - not a big fan of chocolate. But, I tasted a small piece - it was good as far as chocolate goes. :-)

I think that we can engage our creativity in all that we do. In our business we can use our critical thinking and communication skills to solve problems and enrich relationships with others. Another way is simply by the way that we organize our lives. Great blog Amy!

Lately I’ve try to be more creative in my thoughts. Trying to think of things out of the ordinary. Even just taking the time to really ponder about the little things and details in life. Most of the time I’m on the run mentally, physically, and emotionally with four growing children so Taking my time with things and slowing down a bit to enjoy life has been a personal goal. Love your blog. Miss you!!
