I love it when…

I’m given a lot of creative freedom with a design project. It makes it more like fun and less like work!

Since one of the main reasons I started this blog was to stimulate and encourage creativity, I thought I’d post one of my most recent design projects. I just have to say thank you to my two cousins (the Porter Brothers) who allowed me to have a lot of fun with their logo and bizcard.

Here are a couple of little things I did for Rich for a role-playing world/setting he is developing. He will be using these amulet images as part of a campaign he is running the characters through. If you’re not familiar with role-palying games, they’re kind of like interactive story-telling (over Skype/computer nowadays, because of distance). This is not at all the usual type of drawing I do, so it was a bit challenging, but still fun. They are not intended to be perfect renditions, but just as a visual reference for the other players.

I’d love to hear what you think. Yes, I was given creative freedom with these, too, but I pulled from some of Rich’s ideas.

freedom isn’t free

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how we need to protect our freedom - not squander it or happily hand it over. Truly, freedom isn’t free. It has to be fought for and won. And, it has to be maintained through responsible and moral actions.

This is such a good article, I thought I’d share it with those who care to read it.

Happy Independence Day!
