I am lagging behind in my posting, and I anticipate it might be a little bit bumpy - I’m going to try soon to either upgrade WordPress, or install different blog software, or try a blog host . Yuck. I don’t want to mess with it, but I do want better features. So, in the meantime, since I don’t have any “new” artwork to post, I am posting a couple of photos of simple wire sculptures I made back in May for Derby decorations (for a party - yeah, the KY Derby is *that* big out here).

I’d love to hear what you think. By far, the more intricate horses (of which I made 3) were the most popular - they are also the smallest in scale - I think about 9 inches high.

This week’s Question: Do you like to experiment with your creativity and creative outlets, or do you prefer to stick with what you know?
I like to try new things. In fact, sometimes it’s hard for me to do the “same thing” because I’m always wanting to try something new. But, I’m going to have to learn how to stick with something for a while so I can get good at it. How about you?

I think one of the reasons it has taken me so long to get down to actually starting my new business (more on the biz later) is because I have been just plain scared. I’m afraid of failure and I’m afraid of success, and I’m afraid of being mediocre. I let the “what-if’s” creep in and ruin my plans, and so I do nothing. Well, I took a step today to get things rolling, and even though it’s scary, it feels really good. It’s a boost to my confidence - a pat on the back and a “you can do it”.

What did I do? Started the paperwork process for the whole thing. And, since we are paying a lawyer to do all this for us, we’d better make something of it. I say “we” because I convinced my wonderful husband to join the effort. While it will mainly be “my” business, he is going to help me. He’s a great Project Manager, and can really help to keep me on track through goals and planning.

This week’s question:
Do you dream more or do more? What keeps you from making your dreams a reality? Is it the comfort of dreams vs. the uncertainty of reality?

As promised, I’m posting some of the projects I’ve been working on. I still need to finish setting up my art studio, but in the meantime, I’m working on starting my new business. I’m trying to kick it into high gear and really get some work done so I can get up and running. Above is a sample of some fun vector art I made to use as design elements.

Do you ever have trouble finding balance in your life? Or are you a pro? Any tips?
Finding balance is one of my greatest challenges, but I keep on going, hoping that as I go I’ll learn how to juggle better.
