noon escape
I meant to post these earlier this week. On Monday night, we received a lot of snow and ice. It was so beautiful. I love the way the ice encases the plants - they shine like little jewels. As I was taking the photos, it was raining and the rain and sun melted the ice away from the plants and all of the ice was gone by noon on Wednesday. The snow stayed for a few days and there is still a little bit left.
One thing I love about Louisville is that the weather is ever-changing. Last week we had near 70’s and this week a snow storm. They say if you don’t like the weather in Louisville, wait a half hour.
Creativity Question: What is a simple thing that fascinates you? I love the intricate little, often unnoticed details in nature: veins on a leaf, turtle shell patterns, layers of rock in the mountainside, and on and on. I don’t think I’ll ever run out of things in nature to be fascinated by.

I love the photo’s. I love all things ice and snow. I definitely live in the wrong place. I also am fascinated by nature. We’ve been going on a lot of hikes lately, and I find myself taking photos of the rocks on the ground, I’ve never really appreciated the desert, but I’m finding there really is beauty in it. I am also fascinated by people. I’m not very good at interacting with them, but I love to people watch. I especially love to watch babies and little kids. They are so expressive and aren’t afraid to show what they are feeling. As adults I think we learn to mask a lot of our emotions. Kids don’t hold back anything.

I’d have to go with water, waterfalls, oceans, streams, rivers, anything H2O. I love the ripples and I love the sounds and the peace that I feel near the ocean or a beautiful falls. I miss you!

I’m with Kim and people watching. Today I started laughing at myself. I was sitting there completely fascinated w/ Megan’s little Catcher. He is the most expressive 8 week old baby I’ve ever seen. When I finally snapped out of it I noticed my mom on the other side of me in the same trance.
I am also fascinated by light. I love the way light moves, reflects and bounces off of things. It’s the best for me when the sun is very low in the sky and everything is golden.

I’m so privileged to have such wonderful friends. I truly mean that. I keep feeling like it’s time to go back, but that kind of a decision is a hard one and is not mine alone.
Kim, I’m with you on being fascinated by nature. I am the same way. Nature is my main source of inspiration in my art - especially because in addition to being completely intrigued by it’s beauty, I am also overwhelmed as I think of where it all came from and the great designer of it all.

Amy, these shots are all really great. I can’t wait to see your eclipse photos — it’s raining and overcast here, so we can’t see a thing!

Amy, your stuff is just amazing! I almost referred a friend to your site the other day (that’s why I called cause it wasn’t on the top of my head)… I wish I could have the same artistic vision you do. You’re awesome!
Oh well… I guess my contribution to the creative world isn’t going to come in the form of art.
